Travelling to France? Here are some essential steps which should help make your French Schengen Visa planning a pleasant experience.

As a UK resident, you can apply for a French Schengen visa, which will allow you to travel to France and other Schengen countries for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

A UK resident is anyone with a Biometric Residence Permits (BRP) card, UK Residence Permit or Channel Island stamp in their passport.

You can also apply for Long Stay applications for British Passport holders.

1. Check Eligibility
  • Your passport must be valid for at least 90 days after your return from your planned trip.
  • Your BRP card or UK visa must be valid for at least 30 days after your return from your planned trip.
  • You must live in the UK or Channel Islands to apply from the UK.
2. Complete the Online Application
  • Fill in your application form/s
  • Create your TLS account
3. Gather Required Documents
  • Passport (valid for at least 3 months after your return)
  • Passport-sized photos
  • Travel health insurance
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel bookings, invitation letter, etc.)
  • Proof of financial means (bank statements, etc.)
  • Flight reservations
  • Cover letter explaining the purpose of your trip
4. Book an Appointment
  • Book you an appointment based on your travel requirements.
5. Attend Your Appointment
  • Submit your application
  • Attend a Biometric appointment – Biometric data (fingerprints and photo) will be collected and you will sign the application form and documentation.
6. Wait for Decision
  • Processing time usually takes 5-15 working days but can vary.
